So, we will be jumping August 27 through September 3, 2008

WOW cool - so we will be jumping for a whole week!!!
Last year it was just the weekend.
I am adding nights to our hotel reservations

Are we really? I wonder if that's just the fair dates or our jump days? I wonder then what day finals would be?

The fairs in TN are like that and they are demo jumps during the week and set up like regular splashes on frid-sun.not sure if this event will be the same but it might be similiar

Steph, let me know where your staying! I'm not 100% sure I'm going, but I would like to make reservations just in case. Ten and Brooks need to spend some quality pup time together!

Here is the schedule straight from the Van Wert County Fair premium book. Just a reminder that there is an entry fee charged for anyone entering the fairgrounds ($6.00 a day, there is also a pass, but I'm not sure of the price). For more information, you can go to www.vanwertcountyfair.org

I would NOT recommend the Guest Keeper. They gave several of the UAD teams (Sara and Scott, Brian, Bob, and a couple others) a very hard time last year... even going as far as to scream and yell at them, along with ILLEGALLY denying a certified Assistance Dog access to their facility. Local law enforcement officers were involved (after the owner called them himself, only to find HE actually WAS the one in the wrong) and the owner got into some trouble over this. ADI was also involved after the event was reported.

I want to make sure that anyone who read that schedule that Amber posted notices that there is a slight schedule modification. All of the times are exactly the same. We are just switching up the order of activities on Monday, Labor Day, so that the Divisional Finals are the last thing for the day.

It's good that I found this, since I don't have time to keep up with the Forum these days. (Sorry about that, by the way, but life happens... and I don't want to miss it. It is peak gardening season; you know?) I was looking for some information from Milt that he told me about this morning and just happened upon this thread.

Everyone please take care and don't forget to e-mail me, if you need anything. I'm still on-line almost every day working.

Thanks,

Last year, if you were bringing in dogs and crates, they didn't charge an entry fee. We just said we were dock jumping and they let us in free.

might be different this year???

Well... you can camp on the fairgrounds. Some of the UAD members have done so in the past already. Sweet!

If our pop-up didn't have a broken pulley at the moment, I'd likely be doing that as well.

Camping is permitted close to jump area. I'll check to see about where to enter.

Camping Information

Post by salijackt on Wed Aug 06, 2008 12:14 am

I don't know for sure, but usually camping sites are reserved the year before for the fair. I know for next year, you have to be paid by October 2008. I believe the fair is also more expensive than a traditional campground. It is $185 for the week or $30 a night. If you want to try to find out more information, the fairboard office number is 419-238-9270

There is a campground called Timberwoods nearby. You can find out more information from - http://www.timberwoodscampgrounds.com/ I haven't been there for a while, but it was nice when I was there before. There is plenty of room to take your dog for a walk (I'm not sure if they inforce a leash law or not.

According to the fairbook, you must pay an entry fee to get in and I know they are getting more and more strict about it. It is $6.00 a day to get in, or $16.00 for a season ticket (for the whole week), but the season ticket must be purchased prior to August 27. You may be able to call the fairboard office and ask about getting one ahead of time and whether or not you can get in without a ticket if you are dock jumping your dog.

Edit: I just found out that all dogs must be on leash at all times at Timberwoods (as well as the fairgrounds).

From the fair map it looks like the same location as last year, right next to the river. I remember some nice shade, but several people had EZ-ups also.
