Staging area for Bele Chere

Hey Milt

What is the staging area like? Is there a place to set up the tent and kennels and leave during the weekend. Also will we be able to unload at the staging area or will we be lugging stuff in. Either way is fine, just need to know what to pack.

Yes, I am intersted in knowing this info as well. I am going to be attending another venue in Greenville and zooming back up the mtn to get to Bele Chere with my Chessie girls. Does anyone know if you can set up on Thursday evening? Oh, BTW, I do not see this posted yet anywhere, but this event is going to be a UKC event! YIPPY!

Yes staging area is beside pool! You can leave tent if you bring one. Tent is not needed as we have shaded staging area with over hang so we won't get wet. If you want to stay the night in your tent at staging area that is a possibility!

Ooo I haven't made a camping reservation but sleeping 20 feet from the pool sounds like a sweet deal. Anyone else planning on this?

If not, where are people staying? I saw one post about a KOA I think but don't remember what thread.

We have a camping reservation at the Asheville East KOA. However, maybe we could park the camper by the pool and claim it is Milt's air conditioned office . . . .lol.

I've got a question...
I've never been to a UAD event, so not sure what to expect once I get up there. I am afraid that I am going to miss the first splash most of the days and am wondering if I am late to the first splash, am I going to be able to sign up and pay for the remainding splashes? Or is it if you are not there first thing in the morning, you are not able to compete later in the day?

Also, can we leave a crate in the staging area over the weekend as shlepping it back and fourth sure is a big pain in the rear. In other words...will the crates still be there the next day if they are left there overnight? I know (I am a local to the area) that Bele Chere can get a little crazy at times...so I just want to make sure someone is going to be there to monitor the left "stuff."

We will definitely be there Saturday and Sunday. Not sure yet for camping. I am thinking of just playing it by ear hoping that we can just camp out in the staging area.

That would be so cool to camp by the pool. I've been late looking into hotels (some want $200 for 1 night!) it'd be nice to not have to worry about spending that kind of money (except on gas, lol) Kris, has been talking about sleeping in the truck before paying that kind of money!

Ya I am not sure we will actually pop the tent but sleeping in the van is looking good. A few campgrounds only want $30/night but $0 sounds better than $60.
