Newbie Here!
Hello! I am new to this site as of today and new to the sport. My wife and I have a 7 month old yellow lab who we have been training in our pool for dock jumping. She loves the water and does quite well. We live in upstate New York. I noticed that there are events in the Long Island area, New Jersey and Connecticutt. Are there any plans to add sites in the future in upstate NY, New Hampshire or Massachusetts? We are really anxious to start competing with Chloe. It looks like it is great fun. Thanks you for any info!
Re: Newbie Here!
Thank you! We are very excited to be here and very excited about beginning our involvement with this sport. I have been involved in coaching high school sports for over 20 years, but have given it up to concentrate on our dogs. Dock Diving with our dogs will be a sport my wife and I can enjoy together!
Re: Newbie Here!
While I'm not sure on upcoming events in your immediate area... I just wanted to extend another WELCOME message!
Sooo... Welcome to UAD and I hope you and your family enjoy the sport!

WELCOME!!!!
It isn't in your "back yard", but there is an event in Hartford, CT in October.
But, I think that might be on the agenda for next year. I know Milt has been trying to get events in our area.

Re: Newbie Here!
Thanks everyone for the nice welcome. That would be great if Milt is able to add events in Mass. and RI. I would love to be involved in helping to bring a UAD event to the upsate New York, or Vermont area. Within 20 miles of here we have a big arena that is under new management and is looking for events, a small Dome Sports Complex that already hosts an AKC Conformation show, and a Fieldhouse in Vermont that hosts college hockey and indoor soccer. We also have 3 fairgrounds right near by. I went to one yesterday and saw obedience and agility. Thanks again!
Re: Newbie Here!
Oh yea, I forgot, we are planning on attending the Hartford event in October, but probably just Sunday as we have a family wedding on Saturday. See ya there!

Re: Newbie Here!
We are in the process of aqurring new events in those areas. We will be in Boston in Feb.- March time frame!

Re: Newbie Here!
Thank you Kathleen and Frank. We would love to stay in contact with you about Events in our area. We are in Hartford, NY. It is in the Glens Falls/Lake George region, right on the Vermont border. Chloe is a 7 month old yellow lab. She is being trained to be our jumper, although she is at the vet today. She has been vomiting for a couple of days and we are afraid she chewed something apart and it caught somewhere. We are quite concerned. We are praying she will be okay! Thanks.

Re: Newbie Here!
Thanks for your concern Team Sky! Chloe came home with me today but her 3rd xray showed a blockage near her colon. Our vet said he hopes it may pass itself through, but if not she will need surgery. We were pointing her toward the October Hartford Conn. event for her debut, but we will have to wait and see. It hasn't slowed her down. She is flying around the house as we speak and would be out leaping into the pool if we let her. She's obsessed with dock diving. My wife and I were so looking forward to competing with her. She has so much natural athletic ability. I have to have her back at the vet in the morning. We'll keep you posted.
Re: Newbie Here!
Hopefully the blockage will pass on its own and save you a lot of stress over it! I'm sure Chloe will be back and ready for the dock in no time.

Re: Newbie Here!
The Chloe update. This morning some of the object came out on its own, a piece of sock. Today's xray showed more stuff that is ready to come out, but one blockage that is still a ways up in there does not seem to be moving much. We can take her home for the weekend, start her back on a little food and hope it comes through. If not, surgery early next week. Please keep Chloe in your thoughts. Thanks!

Re: Newbie Here!
Please update us all. Chloe is on my mind today as I, too, live in a lab household and have had similar emergencies -- whole lightbulb, about 15 sewing needles and the pincushion where they were stored, toys, most of a 40 lb. bag of kibble, $30 worth of baklava for a party, etc.
