Dont Miss! 2012 no novice Finals at any event.

Post by Milt on Sun Jan 22, 2012 7:05 pm

Starting in 2012 we will no longer have novice dogs compete in finals. Dogs must have Junior or higher ranking to compete in finals at any of our events. Dogs can still earn novice titles but they must improve to Junior div. to compete in finals. Thanks, Milt

I'm sorry to hear about no novice finals. It was always fun to see the pups improve and get better jumps. I know there is a reason you're dropping novice and I'm not upset it will just be different not seeing these pups jump. Gosh Brew took forever to get out of novice but I was so proud of him when he finally got to the upper end of novice and actually took first place a few times. It helped us to keep trying to get better and better jumps out of him. I know he will never be a big jumping dog and I'm thinking we'll never be in finals again because he is right smack in the middle of senior jumps and we can't compete as much as we use to so I am extra proud of the competitions he was in when he took first or second place in novice and juniors. I know winning isn't everything and we have a blast whether we wiin or not or even if we get into finals but it sure is fun to be at the top of the group!!!!!

We have split the Senior Division into the Senior Division 15-17.5 and the Senior Elite Division 17.6-19.11.

Will there be more featherweight finals for the little guys if there are some other short dogs at the event? I don't think my little corgi will be able to jump out of novice. Of course some of the short dogs can jump further than novice and there are not alot of us. Thanks.

Okay, wait... another thread states that there will be Novice Finals, but there will be a limit for each dog's time spent on the dock. I am guessing that, since this thread was started in January and the other was in February, that the other thread is the more recent (and final?) decision on this topic? Could someone please verify that for me? Thanks.

We are still having novice finals but we need to limit the time that we give dogs to jump that hesitate for long periods of time. When we start the finals we usually have large crowds and we don't want the non-jumping novice dogs to turn off the excitement in the crowd. You have to remember we are putting on a show along with our competition.

Thanks for the reply, Milt. Sweet! No worries, I figured that was the reason and it does certainly make sense. Thanks for keeping Novice Finals and letting the little jumpers still be a part of the end-of-event festivities! I'm sure Ice would approve. Just kidding! Lol.
