Dont Miss! Lynnie's Gallbladder Surgery

Post by MaraLee on Mon Aug 30, 2010 8:29 pm

Hi Everyone,

Lynnie is having her gallbladder removed tomorrow, laparoscopically(sp?). So, I may be delaying the opening of these events by a day. I'm sorry. I will try my best to open them before we leave for her surgery... but the alternator on my car died on the way home from Paws in the Park yesterday, so Bill was going to fix that before we leave... if he needs my help or the hospital calls and bumps her surgery forward, I will not be opening the events scheduled for tomorrow. I will do my best.

Doesn't my life sound like a Country music song? dog band I should write a song about it... dancin dog rofl

I'll post tomorrow to let you all know how Lynnie is doing. I'm sure she will be fine, probably way, way better than she's been the last few weeks. Poor kid! Yikes! And I've been dragging her to two different dock jumpin' events in the last 8 days, but we did have fun meeting everyone. Ultimate Air Elation

Thanks for being the wonderful, understanding friends that you all are!
I love you guys!

MaraLee

I thought you didn't like country music? Maybe you should write a song to that fits with the theme of the funky songs you had going on your ipod this weekend. You make me laugh ti

Good luck to Lynnie!!! I had mine removed a few years back - some of the most excruitiating pain until it was out! My mom also had hers out 6 months before me and said the pain was worse than labor. As soon as I woke up I was pain free and was so happy!!! Make sure she listens to the dr. 100%. I was back to normal a week and a half after and my mom (who didn't listen) was down and out for almost 3 weeks!

Dont Miss! Re: Lynnie's Gallbladder Surgery

Post by MaraLee on Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:44 am

Thank you, everyone, for the postive thoughts and prayers out their in the universe for our daughter, Lynnie.

Honestly, it has been far worse than I ever expected. I assumed that being laparascopic (sp?) meant that it was relatively pain free... ah, wrong! Come to find out it's just as painful as a traditional gallbladder surgery. The difference is the recovery time is dramatically reduced... thank goodness!

The surgery went fine, but she wasn't released from the hospital until 5 hours later, until the meds kicked in, so that her pain wasn't quite a 10 anymore. We thought she was going home around 6:30, when she suddenly woke up and had an all out panic attack in response to the pain. Honestly, it was one of the worse things I've ever seen... or right at the top of the list. She was balling up in a fetal position, screaming for us to make it better, calling for her Daddy and we couldn't do anything but try to calm her down... unsuccessfully. We had an awesome nurse named Jolene who immediately gave her IV meds that knocked her out in a matter of seconds.

I swear that I would rather have my arm sawed off with a rusty dull knife than have Lynnie go through anything like that again.

On the funny side, which anyone who knows me knows that I'm always looking for in any situation, I was finally thankful that my daughter swears she will never have babies! Never being a grandma is a fair trade off for not having to watch my baby girl in that kind of pain, again. It's just not worth it. She can adopt a puppy, if she is overwhelmed with maternal instinct! Snickering I want to be a Canine Granny.

(I can't really go anywhere with Lynnie in her current state of recovery.) We've been instructed to keep her sedated as much as possible until tomorrow, when the pain should finally begin to let up. We've also been warned that today should be the worst day. Sleep

Thanks, again!

Poor kid. I hope and pray today turns out to be a peaceful pain free day for Lynnie. I hope the pain goes away fast and she gets back to a normal kid life soon. Please give her a huge hug for us and let her know she is very much in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you all!

It does not seem like it at the time, but the pain does end. Try massages, deep breathing and puppy kisses, that seemed to work the best for me. You are right though when my kids were in pain I always wished I could take it for them. You all remain in thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, everyone. Having our family, both traditional and UAD, makes all of the difference.

The amazing thing is that I am getting tons of on-line work done. The scores are all up, the events are open. All I have left to do today is process registrations. Not bad, huh?

Talk to you all later. I have to run out to the pharmacy. Lynnie's best friend, Katie, is over keeping her company and helping me to take care of her, which is just an enormous help!

Thanks again,
MaraLee

Maralee, Please give Lynnie our best.
I am sure in a few days the pain will lighten up for her.
As others said it was so much better after the surgery as my mom had it done also. she had quite a bit of pain with hers but she did ok. But then again my mom has no pain tollerence. As Steph said listen to the doc and she should recover just fine. she is young and verystrong young lady, best of luck in her recovery. hugs and tailwags and kisses from the Isola's and the dogs.
