Flint goes to the Dogs AKA Mud Bowl 2008

Again thanks every one. I had fun despite the weather. A lot of it could not have gotten done w/o all of you guys/gals help and participation in the events.

As far as next year we will see. If I can the people to voulenteer like this year for another worth cause. I think it would be a great anual event. However, If it were not for UAD RNR and all the others who donated their time and products it would have been WAY in the RED. It was all you crazy dog people that came out and got wet all day that made it fun.

Those that did make it. Please let me know what you thought of the layout and the event in general. Especially if the weather would have co-operated. I Hope all of you had fun despite the monsoon......

...Lets hope

Thom I thought the layout was good. I liked the size of the field....small enough to keep an eye on the other events, etc.(But I do wonder if there would be room for the amount of people that might show up on a sunny day?)
It was convenient to have the disc speaker system- I noticed he was announcing mostly everything so that we could all hear it. Having food and drinks on site was uber convenient.....my mom was sold at the mention on pancakes Ultimate Air Elation

One thing that I would have liked to see (and maybe it was planned for but people pulled out) is more dog EQUIPMENT vendors. I'm always a sucker for on-site equipment. For instance, that's why I love Premier soooo much.....I can spend money. Mad Dog

Honestly though, I really, really LOVED the opportunity to mess around with various sports! It was so great to get more than one out of the way in the same weekend. Hopefully the general laid-back feeling won't change even if more people show up in the future. A very productive day!!! Ultimate Air Elation Ultimate Air Elation

We would like to thank everyone who came out and braved the weather to volunteer and attend "Flint Goes To the Dogs". This benefit event was started by Thom, looking to help a friend in need, and grew to what we saw as a opportunity to introduce the public to the world of dog sports. We were able to bring in every UKC event (other then hounds) and well as non UKC events.
After the hours spent planning, Thom and I were very disheartened to see the weather reports. But we should have known the loyal and crazy dog folks would never let a little monsoon stop them.

I also really liked the layout... I thought it was nice that everything had ample room between each sport, while still within east sight and walking distance for the multi-sport participants.

I liked the raffle and food/drinks availability as well.

One suggestion I would have is to perhaps find a better spot for the wpull. Perhaps a section of pavement could be taped off? I know this would take away from already limited parking space, though, so I'm not sure if it would be a possibility. Otherwise, maybe look into having the group bring a rails system if they have one instead next time. I know the APA group, for example, has a rail system they have transported to events before.

Overall, I thought it was a great event... besides the weather. Just kidding!

Thanks for the input. I originaly had them in another spot but had to make a few last minute changes. I thought it would be good down there near the agility and RNR but with the weather and the big tent in the way it didnt work out how I had planned.

Annie I had one big tent that was supposed to come in but didnt show because of weather...However that seemed to be the hardest part was getting the vendors in even at a the low price I quoted them.
