David and Elvis to appear at Fido’s Festival USA

Fresh from their stint on the CBS show America’s Greatest Dog, reality TV stars Elvis and his faithful owner David Best, M.D. will emcee the Fido’s Festival fashion show "Project Ruffway" on Saturday, September 6 at the Salem County Fairgrounds. A Camden native, Best embraced the opportunity to stage a comeback with Elvis at Fido’s Festival, adding, since the event was taking place during his birthday weekend he plans to celebrate his birthday at the festival and promises to bring two to three of his “housemates” from America’s Greatest Dog cast with him. David Best, a New York City medical doctor and co-founder of www.thedoctorschannel.com with a creative flair and a love of dogs, stepped into the spotlight when he threw a lavish party for Elvis called the “best Bark Mitzvah in town,” which was attended by 100 guests including the famed Dr. Ruth.

Fido’s Festival USA, a family friendly, two-day event where all socialized dogs can meet and compete and even march in a parade, will take place September 6-7 at the Salem County Fairgrounds from 10am-6pm. Celebrities scheduled to appear include tri-state Basset Hound Olympians Apollo and Winslow and their owner, author and reigning Ms. Cont’l America Gail Kasper, Ultimate Air Dogs, World’s Ugliest dog Elwood, author and world-renowned animal communicator Dr. Elizabeth Severino, and Sydney Kramer, ninth-grade author of the Cookie Dalmatian Series. Training will be offered by Kathy McGuire, President and Founder of NJ Aid for Animals, as well as veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Morris of Black Horse Pike Animal Hospital. CBS 3 Meteorologist Carol Erickson will appear on Sunday. Ticket prices are $7 advance purchase and $10 at the gate, dogs and children under 12 admitted free.

Milt,

This sounds like an interesting lineup. Quite the assorment of people and dogs on hand. We saw David and Elvis on TV and he's a pretty smart dog. Maybe you can talk them into doing a celebrity jump A Round of Applause!

I'm not Milt... obviously... but I just checked the schedule and it says long dock for this event. However, if there are conflicts, I'd imagine that might change since Imlay will for sure be long dock, being Nationals and all.

Short dock will be used because of cost of water in this area.

I have 2 long docks now and will use long docks whenever possible. Some events request short dock and pool because of different circumstances. We now have 2 UV devices to use when having multiple events.

Where are people staying for this event? I looked at hotels, but haven't made reservations yet. On the Fido's Fest website, they have 3 hotels listed. I am trying to decide between the Holiday Inn and the Comfort Inn.

Hey, Everyone,

Gosh, I'm sorry that I mistakenly put LONG Dock, not SHORT on Fido's Festival USA.

I will go fix it on the web-site. Thank you for noticing that.

Hey Everyone. The weather reports for Saturday look horrible right now. Hanna's blowing in so what happens to Saturday's splashes if they're rained out?

I was curious about that too... since I was planning on driving there for the day (about 3 hrs each way), in bad weather my commute is easily double that... didn't know the policy if you had pre-registered but cannot make it?

Thanks!!

A wet dog is a happy dog! I'm not sure what the organizer is prepared to do in case of bad weather! We will try to update info on this thread!

Hi Jen,

As far as policy... that's what great about Ultimate Air Dogs and Splash Dogs..... you do not pre-pay to register, unlike Oops! and some other dog sports... where it's near impossible to get a refund. So, if the weather is bad and unsafe for driving they're understandable.. hah especially from the Island, as well as other on foreseen circumstances. Hopefully, Hanna will make a turn for the best....... weather watching on channel 62 at 49 on the hour, is a good one Ultimate Air Elation

From the FIDO'S FEST web page ***Weather Update***
We've got you covered if tropical storm Hanna decides to attend Fido's Festival USA™ on Saturday. Festival will be held in our covered pavillions and indoor buildings.

Would this be applicable to the UAD event too??
Still have to decide whether or not to brave NJ traffic in the rain! :-)
