Dont Miss! UKC Questions

Post by Ann DHondt on Tue Mar 11, 2008 8:48 pm

Sara

Sorry if I am repeating questions, I have read cursory through here and I have a couple questions.

First of all Belle and Teddi have AKC papers, but I do not have their 3 generation bloodlines. Do I have to get that to get the single registry? I tried to read that but the print was WAY too small for my bad eyes on the thread from Shari. For the reasons I got their AKC papers I didn't need any generations. Oh I have seen comments about a spay certificate (or something), is that something I would need?

Also, I understand that in order to get a UKC title the dogs have to be registered. Am I correct that a dog can jump and if it is a UKC event their jumps qualify for both a UA title and a UKC title? I appreciate your patience if these have been previously asked and answered. Just trying to make sure I know what to do.

Thanks
Ann

Hi Ann:

If you want to Single Register your dogs, which would have them registered as a purebred same as AKC, you will need a 3 generation pedigree. You can handwrite it on the application or send a copy. I know you can get them online on AKC for $10-15. You can print it right off when you do it that way. If you call them to have one mailed, it will take a while, so I recommend doing it online.

The other option is to Limited Privilege register your dog. This is for fixed dogs; for unregistered purebreds w/unknown pedigrees, dogs registered with registries the UKC does not acknowledge, purebreds with disqualifications, or mixed breeds. This is the one where you need a statement from your vet that the dog is spayed or neutered. With LP, you can participate in all UKC activities except conformation.

You are correct, to obtain UKC titles on your dog, it has to be UKC registered. You will earn the new UKC Dock Jumping titles and also UAD will retain it's titling system so then dogs don't HAVE to be UKC registered to compete. But it's pretty cool to earn UKC titles!

Thanks Sara!

Your answers are very clear and I appreciate that you aren't frustrated by probably answering for the umpteenth time.

I could probably get Teddi's 3 gen online, but Belle I am not sure I could... I could not process her registry on line but I could the Teddster. I would pursue a UKC for Belle probably for their agility. However it is nice to know the LP is an option for both. I would suppose that would be a lower registry fee anyway. I know my vet would sign a spay statement for me.

Could you see Belle in confirmation You make me laugh ti Don't you think she is a "little" taller than the Lab breed standard? Laugin' out loud!

Thanks tons Sara!
