Dont Miss! Single Registration

Post by Sara on Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:57 am

Single Registration is for dogs that are already currently registered with an organization that the UKC acknowledges. Following is instructions:

For a dog that is not already registered with UKC as part of a litter, and whose parents are not both UKC registered, we do offer Single Registration. The rules for Single Registration can vary depending on breed so please refer to our website for breed requirements at http://www.ukcdogs.com/Registration.htm ; however the general requirements are as follows:

1. Completed UKC Application for Single Registration (available on our website at www.ukcdogs.com/Forms.htm).
2. Photocopy of the dog’s registration certificate from an UKC acknowledged registry. (For all breeds we acknowledge AKC, FCI, ADBA, The Kennel Club (Great Britain) and Canadian Kennel Club)
3. The dog's complete three generation pedigree (photocopy or handwritten).

I just want to mention that I received the UKC registration certificates in record time. The process was easy and UKC responsive. The certificates are also very spiffy! ;-)

Thanks!! Registration moves pretty quick at UKC, normally. I personally think the certificates are much nicer than the AKC, but then, I am a little biased! Hot Dawg

Do we keep the dog's same registered name? Through AKC, Connor is registered as "Annie's leap of Faith" so through the UKC would he have to be the same or can I change it? Kind of a pointless question, but I was just wondering. Ultimate Air Elation

You can make the name whatever you want! The only rules are it is limited to 30 characters, which includes spaces and punctuation, and nothing lewd or offensive---which I am pretty sure you would never do! Sweet! We've had some really entertaining ones come through though!

Single registration gives the dog full UKC rights am I correct? We never have to reregister the dog. Once she receive a title it will always be listed with the UKC.

You are right, Single Registration gives you full UKC privileges. The only difference between Single Reg. and Limited Privilege is you cannot show conformation with Limited Privilege. Titles stay with your dog forever.

Wow, thanks Sara for explaining that. It is really something to consider when deciding how to register my our dogs.

I'm going to register Waffles with the Single registration, since we plan on breeding her someday. (She got an Excellent on her OFA hips! A Round of Applause! )

But Lucy was the one I wasn't sure about.... I never bothered to register her with that other dog registry that her puppy papers were with, because we had her spayed when she was only 6 months old, as she had a severe jaw condition that could have possibly been genetic. (Whew, I'm outta breath! That was quite a sentence, huh?)

So, I figured it would be easier to UKC register Lucy with a Limited. But she was the one who I considered having Lynnie do the Junior Conformation stuff with, since she is so mellow. (Waffles would be escorted out of the building by security, because she's a spoiled little Princess.)

I may be off base but I hope Sara can point us in the right direction..
I heard that Juniors could show the LP dogs as well through UKC. Is this the case?

That's right. The Junior Handler conformation classes are all about how the Junior handles the dog, and LP dogs are permitted.

Sara, we dropped off Skys UKC information last Friday. And the lady from the "back" told us if we were to call sometime Monday or Tuesday they could at least tell us Skys UKC number for this weekend. Any idea who we would call? We were just thinking about this today, and thought you might have an idea, maybe. All we need to know is her numbers so maybe you could point us in the right direction.

And on a side note things must be moving pretty fast there at the UKC to tell us we might will be able to get our UKC number only 3-4 days from when we dropped the information off.

Thanks,

Hey Brian:

You guys dropped it off in person? You should have asked for me!

Things have been moving REALLY fast, I've been pretty impressed b/c it's been insane busy--most registrations I've seen come in since I started working there.
