Premier Juniors

How do I register a Junior for the UKC event ? I registered the dog (with my self) for each of the splashes - but saw no where to put her class? Or to add the junior showing her in th ejunior class ?
Can you tell I am new and this will be our first time !!!!!

It's not really a class per se. If we have 2 or more junior handlers competing in the regular splashes, which are handlers age 16 or under, then we have a separate finals for them in the specialty finals. The specialty finals consist of junior handlers, veterans, and featherweight dogs. All divisions and specialty divisions run together in the splashes, and are separated out in the finals.

Just let the event secretary know when you check in, that you have a junior handler handling the dog.

Sara can I ask for a clarification here as well....If a JR wanted to handle my dog can I enter him twice. Not for this event because it will bve so full but there are some events I am going to that my friends kid who is a JR might like to jump him. Can he be entered twice under two different handlers?

Nope, not in the same splash. However, you could enter one splash and have the Jr. enter another splash. Here's the complete rule:

b. Handlers.
1) Number of handlers allowed. Teams may have more than one handler per dog.
2) Number of handlers allowed on the dock during a splash/jump. Teams are restricted to no more than two handlers on the dock per jump. One to hold the dog and the other to throw the toy. These handlers may not be reversed during a splash. The handler throwing the toy is considered the handler of record.
3) Handler changes. Handler changes are allowed at the beginning of each splash. A dog may not jump with different handlers in one splash, i.e., the dog may be entered only once per splash. However, a handler may jump multiple dogs.
4) When a dog has multiple handlers throughout the event, and qualifies for the finals, it is up to the multiple handlers to decide who jumps the dog in finals.

Could you clerify also the minimum age for this for UKC? I am not at that point yet of course with Jayden but I am sure some people would like to know.

We decided not to set a minimum, but require that any handlers under the age of ten be accompanied on the dock by an adult. Here's the rule:

A. Age. Dock jumping (air dog) competition handlers may be any age provided the handler is able to control the dog. A Judge may excuse a dog at any time if he/she believes the handler is unable to control the dog and the Judge’s decision is final.
B. All handlers that are under the age of 18 must have the waiver/ consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
C. Handlers age 10 or under must be accompanied by an adult on the dock.

Oh cool. My 14 yo son is going to be coming with me to Van Weert and would love to handle one of the dogs. He is a TDI handler for one of our dogs.

Lora.. My daughter is also 14 and handlers three of our dogs on the dock.. We'll be at Van Weert if things all go well.
