Earning titles

Hi All!
I am new to the list and new to dock diving.

As you can see from my user name, I have Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. My best diver is my old girl of 9.5 years old, Sydney. Sydney has already earned titles with the UKC, so we are excited that she can earn new ones by doing dock diving.

I have a question on how to earn titles. I have read the rules and regs, but I guess unless you are familiar with UAD and dock diving in itself, it is a little confusing.

How do you go about entering your dog in a jump? I see from the site that you can pre-enter online.
How do you know what "division" to enter them in? Is it just based on the distances that the dog jumps? Or do you HAVE to enter the dog in Novice and if she jump further then the 9'11" we can earn a higher level?

I was also wondering if the Asheville's Bele Chere Festival event is going to be a UKC event. Also the Bristol event, as well as the Destin, Fl event.

Well, first off, welcome to UAD!

As for entering... well, you just sign up for whatever Splashes you wish to enter. You don't enter any specific division. The division you place in and possibly earn a Finals spot in will be determined by how far your dog jumps at the event.

According to the schedule, the three events you mentioned are TBD for UKC status. UAD needs verification from UKC (and the event hosts, to see if they can accomodate the full setup) before posting whether/not the event will be UKC sanctioned.

Well this has mostly been answered, but as to whether those events will be UKC sanctioned depends on whether they will be licensed, which depends on the kind of event.

Also, since your dog is over 8 years old, make sure to indicate when you register that it is a veteran dog. We have a separate finals at UKC events for veterans, featherweights, and junior handlers. We're working at UKC to eventually have separate rankings for those as well!

Is there a way to check how many points a dog has, what titles, etc without having to bother someone at UKC? Is it available online?

It's not yet available online, you would have to call UKC and ask for the Dog Events department.
